& it has me absolutely tweaking lol.
I'm used to making beats everyday - part of my daily routine is 1 hour of melody making.
but my creative attention has been consumed by something else all week,
and this has pulled me away from beats to the point where now I haven't seen my baby FL in 2 whole days 😞.
I feel like this happens to a lot of producers.
We start putting in work.
start getting way better and seeing some dope results.
and then something breaks up our gravitational pull toward the beats.
then before you know it,
days, weeks (or, God forbid, even months) go by without us opening the DAW 🤕.
That's why 48 hours is my 'warning siren' ⚠️.
Here's exactly what I do once it reaches 2 days of no beat making 👇
[Note: Today is the last day to get the Elysium Multi-Kit for 50% off (only $10) 🔥]
- Watch cook up tutorials (I usually just look over my full guides, because I actually make them for myself; I also watch content from other producers that inspire me, like Maxeyy or Rob Chillin).
- Take ONE concept from the tutorial - it could be anything; a chord, a note, a progression, a drum bounce, a rhythm, a motif style... ANYTHING. Don't take all the info or demonstration from the video - just ONE THING.
- take that ONE THING and use that concept to build out a beat.
- use the tutorial you got the concept from for guidance if you are still getting stuck creatively.
Try this workflow the next time you feel stuck but really wanna create something dope.
I usually only have to do this once before I'm back in the flow.
but sometimes I'll do it 3 or 4 times too (it just depends).
So that's what I'm finna do today, and I have a feeling I'm gonna make a lot more than one beat lol.
I'll let you know how it went tomorrow.
Blessings,
Chu
